In 1984 I was a budding 26 year old guitarist into Carlos Santana etc and Mr Santana was the man that gave the name "Boogie" to the very first amps built by Randall Smith the founder of Mesa Boogie. When Carlos tried those early amps for the first time he said "man that thing really Boogies" These amps won accolades all over the world and in 1985 I looked at buying one. In Guitarist magazine November 1984 they did a review of the Mark II-C stating that it cost (RRP £1360) the same as a terraced house in Sheffield !! This article is included in the sale written by Paul White. In 1984/5 this was a MASSIVE amount of money for a guitar amp but my father had unfortunately died the year before from cancer and my mum gave the 3 children a £1000 each. I wanted to buy something in my dad's name and this was it.
